Keren Ann

Keren Ann is an eclectic singer-songwriter based largely in Paris, New York City and Israel, who has racked up accolades for original compositions that put a fresh perspective on the age-old art of songwriting. In 2000 Keren began her solo career with La Biographie de Luka Philipsen--produced by Lionel Gaillardin and Benjamin Biolay. Her first international release was her third album "Not Going Anywhere" (2003) but her American breakthrough came with its follow-up, Nolita (2004). Recorded in Paris and New York--it is named for Nolita, her neighborhood in lower Manhattan--it is sung half in French and half in English. According to a review in the New York Times: "These songs also seek a grander scale, pondering war and love, betrayal and transcendence. And when she decides she's said enough, she luxuriates in sublime textures."
